Amazon is giving brands more control over how their products are represented on the marketplace through its new Brand Elevation program. The initiative is designed to improve product listing accuracy, reduce unauthorized changes, and strengthen brand protection across Amazon.
For years, third party sellers have played a major role in Amazon’s growth by sourcing and reselling established brands. While that model has created opportunities for sellers, it has also led to challenges such as duplicate listings, inaccurate product information, and unauthorized product page edits. Amazon Brand Elevation aims to address these issues by giving participating brands greater authority over their listings.
One of the biggest changes is that product information submitted directly by brands will receive priority when Amazon determines what content appears on product detail pages. This allows brands to maintain greater consistency and ensure shoppers see accurate product descriptions, images, and specifications.
Amazon has also introduced new requirements for creating branded product listings. As of June 1, sellers generally cannot create new branded catalog entries unless they have been designated as authorized resellers through Amazon Brand Registry. This change limits the ability of unauthorized sellers to create listings for branded products and gives brands more control over who represents their products on the platform.
The program may also increase visibility for authorized sellers. Amazon has begun identifying approved sellers to shoppers, helping customers purchase from trusted sources while supporting broader brand protection efforts.
For brands, these updates provide stronger control over product information and a better opportunity to protect their reputation. For authorized sellers, the changes may create new advantages through increased trust and visibility. However, unauthorized resellers could face new restrictions and may need to obtain authorization before listing certain branded products.
Amazon Brand Elevation reflects Amazon’s continued effort to attract and retain major brands while improving the shopping experience for customers. As the program expands, brands and sellers alike will need to adapt to a marketplace where brand ownership and authorized distribution play a larger role in listing creation and product page management.
